Main Objectives are: 1. Provide superior classroom instruction on theories and concepts relevant to the science and application of psychology. 2. To provide adequate facilities required for teaching, research, and other endeavors important in education and professional development. 9. To disseminate knowledge of psychology to the community at large.

Psychology is the domain of Social Science that deals with the treatment of human behavior and its understanding, and attempts to bring about change and modification required for this behavior i.e., the treatment of schizophrenia is to be understood and studied. The subject lies at the intersection of applied, educational, and theoretical science. There are sub-areas of psychology that are being offered in our department are clinical and industrial / organizational psychology. Clinical psychology is a broad field that encompasses specialists providing psychotherapy, psychological testing, and diagnosis of mental illness. Psychologists trained to provide clinical services work in research, education, training and health sectors. Others specialize in areas such as counseling and school psychology. Working with numerous populations, they focus on individual differences, normal and abnormal behavior, mental and emotional health, healthy behaviors and mental disorders and their prevention. Psychologists are generally trained within four primary theoretical orientations, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and systems or family therapy. The subject offer wide range of career opportunities. Clinical psychologists usually work in hospitals, academic institutions, counseling and rehabilitation centers. They can also establish private consultation firms. Industrial-Organizational Psychology focuses on understanding human dynamics in the workplace. A knowledge of human behavior is one of the ‘selling points’ for Psych majors when it comes to gaining employment, and a knowledge of basic psychology makes you a more effective supervisor/manager. Major carrier domains of Clinical and Industrial-Organizational psychology graduates include: The National Health Service Police forces, the National Probation Service and prisons Armed Forces as Psychotherapist Schools, sixth form colleges and colleges of further education Social services. Department of Psychology is one of the primary department in the faculty of Social Science of the International Institute of Science, Arts and Technology. Its initial setup was laid down when university opened its gate for students to learn and grow. Department of psychology offers its services for undergraduate degree program in psychology. The curricula for the degree program are designed to prepare manpower needed for the economic development of the country. International Institute of Science, Arts and Technology is going to launch BS (Hons.) in Clinical and Industrial/ Organizational Psychology as four years professional degree programs to broaden the vicinity of Psychology Department of International Institute of Science, Arts and Technology in the region. Department of Psychology provides its students with exposure to human modifying principles by providing experimental exposure, internship opportunities and research as part of curriculum. Hence, encouraging a balance between the theoretical and practical aspects of psychology.
