Department of Urdu was established when university laid a setup of quality education in this area. This program will help to enhance the knowledge about the Urdu language policies and challenges faced round the globe. This will consequently lead to uplift knowledge base about the circumstances of Pakistan language. The education mission underpins all aspects of the program, as faculty participate in the practical based teaching of undergraduate that will not only play positive role in training but also help to attain research positions in diverse academic and social environments.
Objectives
The Department of Urdu, Its main objective is to spread awareness about the literary and cultural importance and relevance of the Urdu culture, language, and literature in Pakistan and around the world. It aims to promote the Urdu language as the language of knowledge, and Urdu literature as the literature of values, especially human values that can withstand the buffeting forces of time. It aims at carrying out original research to develop the field of knowledge. The department offers MS in Urdu to promote Urdu learning. The thrust research areas of the department are: The Study of Modern Culture Language & Literature Study of history and development of urdu language Culture, and Literature

The program develops students’ skills to work as Teachers Academic supervisors/researchers Translators Editors and interpreters since linguists are in high demand in the intercultural world.
Eligibility Criteria
12 years of education with at least 45% marks, in case of O/A Levels, equivalence from IBCC shall be required.
